Azerbaijani 1

“Ay bÉ™ri bax” in English “Hey look here” is known as a lyrical song of love content. The song often repeats the word "pÉ™ncÉ™rÉ™" - "window", which is associated with the customs of the Azerbaijani people. According to Jamila Gasanova, a professor at the Baku Musical Academy , in the song, the window turns “into a certain space where the events that served as an impetus for the appearance of this work took place”: In the old days, it was not customary for Azerbaijani girls to freely walk the streets, get acquainted or talk with guys. At best, they could communicate through the window, so the life of young girls passed outside the windows. For the same reason, the window is of great importance in the lives of young guys who want to see a beautiful girl, fall in love and get married. The content of the poetic text of the song in all other versions, as well as in modern interpretations, reflects the love confession of a young man, from whose lips the song is sung. The song also reflects the lover's dreams of marriage, farewell before parting, the hope of a meeting soon. The words “Ay bÉ™ri bax”, addressed to the beloved, are repeated like a refrain.
