Lullabies are songs sung by mothers on the cradle with special rhythm and harmony and therefore it is sometimes called as cradle songs, too. Love of mother to baby, her wishes and desires related to child are sounded in one poetic language. Lullabies consist of four hemistiches mostly. Lullabies are one of the most popular genres in Azerbaijan. They are the songs that have been sung to put babies to the bed and to fondle them. In this lullaby, mother expresses her feelings toward her child by imagining her child among the roses with sweet dream. Besides, the mother indicates how she will take care of her child while the baby is sleeping.
