Azerbaijani 3

Azerbaijani folk song “KüçÉ™lÉ™rÉ™ su sÉ™pmiÅŸÉ™m” – “I have sprinkled water into streets” is considered as a love song. It was created in 1918. When it comes to the history of the song, it was dedicated to the Turkish soldier who saved the population of Azerbaijan from the massacres of the Armenian-Russian soldiers. Therefore, sometimes in the first two lines of the song instead of telling – “KüçÉ™lÉ™rÉ™ su sÉ™pmiÅŸÉ™m” – “I have sprinkled water onto the streets”, “Yar gÉ™lÉ™ndÉ™ toz olmasın” -  “May they not be dusty when my love comes back”, it is replaced with “May they not be dusty when the Turk soldier comes”.  The song "I sprinkled water onto the streets" became popular after it was performed by the famous singer Rashid Behbudov. His performance conveys the melancholy of the song to the listener at a very high level.
