Kazakh 1
“Qamajai” is a one of the famous folk songs among Kazakh people. The song is used for performance of teenage girls’ dance. They must be dressed in national clothes, with braided hair and decorated with national ornaments. Fine movements, harmony of hands, head and body are very important in dance. The dance appeared between the 14th and 15th centuries. The exact author is unknown; it is believed that it was spread among the people as a dance. The dance represents beauty and tenderness, as it is trying to reveal the content of the song. As a wonderful example of Kazakh culture and song-dance art, this is used as a dance, and on the other – a song. Cedric Waterskut, a famous European guitarist from Belgium, said that "Qamajai occupies a special and big place in the history of Kazakh people, and Qamajai is very important to them."
