„A duck walks around” is a spring song („vesnianka”), sung around Easter time. It ridicules laziness jokingly. This genre of songs is typically connected with some dance movements that young people do while singing. The game associated with this song is as follows: young people are in a circle, inside the circle there is a boy who plays the role of the duck and chooses a girl he likes and takes her inside the circle, then the girl has to do the same and the game continues. This song was taught to me by my grandmother who comes from the Yavoriv region close to the Polish border, so the song is sung in that dialect.
